A Visit to Wurlitzer is a quaint tour through the inner workings of the North Tonawanda, New York, Wurlitzer jukebox factory back in 1947. A top producer of musical instruments, Wurlitzer was producing coin-operated phonographs (jukeboxes), pianos, accordions, and organs. A great look at the history of the phonograph, the film begins with a color sequence in which the factory and its surroundings are shown, and then moves to a black and white sequence that captures an assembly line manufacturing a model 1100 jukebox. The variety of Wurlitzer juke box parts that go into just one Wurlitzer coin register mechanism is astonishing. This film is essential viewing for anyone interested in older manufacturing processes, the Wurlitzer Company, jukeboxes, or pop records of the 1940s.
