"Learning Curve" and "Strange Relations" give us further insight into Captain Elizabeth Lochley's character, as she makes further adjustments in delegating authority as Babylon 5's new commander as well as the survival of its rogue telepath colony led by the charismatic Byron (Robin Atkin Downes). In "Learning Curve" young Minbari ranger trainees discover Babylon 5's Brown Sector, and thwart a would-be gangster lord's attempt to assert his authority over the entire station. Turhan Bey, last seen as the dying Centauri Emperor in Season 2, returns as one of the Minbari ranger teachers - and a former teacher of Delenn's (Mira Furlan). Meanwhile Lyta Alexander's (Patricia Tallman) relationship with Byron and his rogue telepath colony become stronger. In "Strange Relations" Psi Corps cop Alfred Bester (Walter Koenig) returns again to Babylon 5 with a force of Psi Corps telepaths, intending to arrest Byron's colony. Captain Lochley (Tracy Scoggins) must walk a diplomatic tightrope with President Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) as they try to honor Bester's demands without ignoring Sheridan's promise of sanctuary to Byron's colony. And Lochley must confront an inquisitive Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle) interested in finding out why Sheridan appointed her as Babylon 5's new commander; apparently Lochley was a loyal EarthForce captain during the recent civil war. Meanwhile Delenn asks G'Kar (Andreas Katsulas) to serve as Londo's (Peter Jurasik) bodyguard, after a Centauri warship mysteriously explodes near Babylon 5. Both episodes are replete with the fine writing and acting I've come to expect from Babylon 5's stellar cast and series creator J. Michael Straczynski.
