The first three episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies spun network television into orbit and set it back down on its ear. No one on Madison Avenue ever expected this rural humor program to become such a hit. Its music theme played by Flatt and Scruggs on banjo & guitar ignited a wave of interest in bluegrass music that caught fire in subsequent films like Bonnie & Clyde and Deliverance. The lowspun comedy chemistry of Buddy Ebsen and Irene Ryan was the cornerstone for more and more: Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Hee-Haw, The Dukes of Hazzard. The first three episodes are presented in this collection and amazingly one is able to see just how talented this program was.
