Academy Award-winner Sissy Spacek (Carrie, Coal Miner's Daughter) is Verna, USO Girl, a kindhearted - but not particularly talented - member of a performing troupe in World War II Belgium. She wins the heart of an American soldier, memorably played by Oscar-winner William Hurt (The Big Chill). An entertaining look at the camaraderie between USO entertainers and combat troops. Also starring Sally Kellerman. Adapted by Albert Innaurato from Paul Gallico's short story.
