This video begins with kids at a petting zoo and the song Old MacDonald. My 16 month old daughter loved the puppies.

After this song they say the Animal Alphabet with each letter on a block with a drawing of an animal on the block. Then they show animals in different groups such as: Horns & Hooves, Furry Faces (our favorite), Fins & Flippers, Beautiful bugs and Wonderful Wings.

They will say the name of each animal and the word is on the screen. Often an interesting animal fact is given such as a cow having 4 stomachs for digestion, when pigs get hot they roll in the mud, a horses feet are called hooves, etc. They also have a section with unusual animals. Then they tell what babies animals are called, such as baby pigs are piglets, baby dogs are puppies, etc. They tell what some groups of animals are called, such as a group of giraffes is called a herd, a group of monkeys is called a troop, etc. Sometimes kids make animal noises which is a bit annoying to me (too loud!). Sometimes kids are crawling around in animal costumes. All together, they show about 60 animals (including the bugs).

The one thing I really didn't like about the video (besides the loud animal noises from the kids) is the song at the very end. It's called "Animal Talk". It's very, very hard to understand what the guy is singing. I even rewound the video several times and really had to listen hard to understand maybe half of it. Instead of singing, "A cat says meow" he sings, "Chelsea says meow". All the animals in the song have names and a lot of them I can't understand what he's saying and he sings it quite fast. I think this could be very confusing to a small child. Why would they sing, "Chelsea says meow" while seeing a cat? The child is supposed to just know that this particular cats name is Chelsea?? It just doesn't make sense to me. From now on, when my child watches this video, I'll stop it before it starts this annoying ending song.

FYI, Baby's First Impressions Animals (BFI) is almost the exact same thing as this Brainy Baby Animals (BB). BFI is now BB so there are many of the exact same scenes in both (same kids in costumes, same kids making the annoying animal sounds, etc). I guess I'd say that BB is a little better because the animals are shown in groups and they have the interesting facts. In BFI the animals are kind of all just mixed up (no catagories). I decided to keep BB Animals and sell my BFI Animals since there is no reason to keep both. BB Animals started out doing a better job at improving the BFI Animals but then they blew it with the stupid song at the end. Could have done without that. Please read more of my reviews.

Pleeeeeease get this one instead! I have seen all of the Einstein videos--just no comparison! This company doesn't seem to have as much publicity but the content in this video is superior.
