It features obstetricians who support homebirth as well as midwifes, mothers, and childbirth educators. It makes the point that while technology can be very useful for those few mothers and babies who really need it, it often has more harmful than beneficial effects when it is not needed. That may be a hard message for those inculcated in the mainstream method of birth with routine medical interventions -- but the fact that it is hard to hear doesn't make it any less true. This video shows that birth is hard work (and since it is the mother doing the hard work, is it any surprise that a video on birth focuses on the mother?) but that it is work with a purpose, and a process that can have a transformative effect on a woman's life. Parenting is hard work, and so is birth, but satisfaction rarely comes from tasks that are easy. And providing babies with a gentle introduction to the world may be more important than we know.
