John Lennon's jealousy and possessiveness were too potent for the young audience. The Beatles made great records. Each album was a development with Lennon leading the way. After the split, Lennon joined the peace movement. He was gunned down on the street in New York City in December, 1980, by a deranged fan named Mark David Chapman. He was finishing his first album in five years, an album which showed his domestic side.
