Buy This Item Mtv: Pilates by Paramount  Available from Amazon  $12.95  on 11-28-2008     <I>MTV Pilates</I> packs a lot into 39 minutes, featuring four youthful, fit exercisers in a pretty setting of flowers and Arizona mountains. Although the DVD promotes itself as presenting beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels simultaneously, this workout would be challenging and perhaps frustrating for a true beginner. The exercisers supposedly demonstrate the various levels, but in truth, there isn't much (if any) difference between one level and another most of the time, and sometimes you can't see what the beginning-level person is doing. Instructor Kristin McGee--impressively strong and flexible--explains the moves and how to do them, without much technique talk. The steady beat of the synthesizer music doesn't seem to fit, but at least it's very soft, and you can deselect it through the audio setup. <I>--Joan Price</I> Reader Reviews I really do enjoy the actual workout performed in this DVD. There were some traditional pilates moves (the hundred, series of five, saw, etc) but she also added variations to other moves. And three levels of intensity are shown which was really nice. One draw back was Kristin's continual "coaching" thru each move which tended to be a bit distracting. Through each move she would say "inhale up, exhale down, inhale up, exhale down" and so on. It would have better if she didn't do that each time and threw some other sayings in there instead of inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, etc.
