I'd love it for the music alone (in fact, I bought the sound track, too) but the earnest 16 year old soul band leader, played by an amazing Andrew Strong, draws in anybody who was willing to climb uphill for something he really enjoyed. Lesser characters also prove to be compelling, such as the teenager who is pressed into service as her siblings' surrogate mom and sees her singing career slide away on a tide of poverty and family responsibility.Worth the price of admission: The Commitments' version of Try A Little Tenderness.
