I read when I was 14 and fell in love with character Jane Eyre ever since. This Jane Eyre (Masterpiece Theatre 2006) with the excellent cast Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens is the closet portrayal of the book. I've seen 4 different versions of Jane Eyre's adaptations, and this one is my favorite. That's the reason why I bought the DVD from Amazon to keep for my own and I still watch it over and over again. Ruth Wilson is more than perfect in her portrayal of Jane Eyre. Her acting is beyond excellent. Her facial expression and her feelings and vulnerability reflect from her eyes that tell you what she thinks and how she feels more than any words can describe. Ruth Wilson got it all in this role of Jane Eyre, the kindness, the simple beauty, the patience, the intelligence, and the complex emotion of Jane Eyre that you can see all in Ruth's acting. Toby Stephens has also given a very well-acted and compassionate character of Mr. Rochester. This version explains more the reason why Mr. Rochester is unhappy and makes you feel sorry for him and makes you urge to see the united between him and Jane Eyre. The romance through out the script is also the best compared to other versions. With beautiful sceneries, details that can describe the situation, the characters, and the atmosphere without narration, and the compassionate performance of Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens have made this Jane Eyre version the best. I can only simply say that I LOVE IT!
