Because Pepe is the only eligible bachelor in town, the younger sisters fall in love with him as well. Hardest hit is Adela (Ana Bele?n), the beauty of the family, whose illicit romance with Pepe has tragic conseqeunces for the entire family. Beautifully shot and acted, the film conveys both the claustrophobia and beauty of a sequestered, all-female hosuehold. Reader Reviews The Film is great but what a disaster, watching this DVD! I usually do not complain but this time I will send a letter to all involved with the making or distributing this DVD. The transfer quality is inferior to the print I saw in 1990. The subtitles are useless and they are only half sentences at times on the screen and you are wondering what you are reading. The soundtrack is off and it is irritating. If you are a fan of the author or the move, get the DVD, but you must understand a little Spanish.
